10061 is a Connection Refused error sent to you by the server. You could not make a connection because the target machine actively refused it. The most common cause is a misconfigured server, full server, or incorrect Port specified by the client.

    Winsock Error 10061… Help, please!?
PLEASE READ THE *ENTIRE* QUESTION BEFORE ANSWERING. I need no rude remarks because someoen decided against reading any more than the title.

I’ve been trying to figure out send/recv in Winsock (using C/C++) for the past couple weeks… I decided to grab the example from MSDN (for send() and recv().. accept() also gave me an error, but i forgot what that was), but I get error 10061.. I’m trying to send the data straight to 127.0.0.1, but it refuses… Can anyone tell me why, how to fix it, or… something? Give me an example the successfully sends “Hi” to myself?
And please don’t tell me that an example would fail because it needs to connect, because I said a successful example. :-)
Lol… just my luck… The registry fixes didn’t help…. Lol how would one fix it if it’s part of the other four percent?

Usually that error relates to a busy torrent, or a firewall issue.

Try and see if there are other versions of the torrent from different sources.

Also, if you’ve installed any software or hardware recently that may have blocked certain ports on your PC that Bit Torrent uses.

If you need to open ports for Bit Torrent, the easiest way is to goto:

      http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

Click on your router, then click on the program you want to open the ports for. It’ll give you a walk thru guide.

      Hope this helps.

Why is Yahoo Mail returning – Error Code 10061: Connection refused?
I enter http://mail.yahoo.com which is redirected to http://us.f526.mail.yahoo.com/ym/login?.rand=b1cpq4p1n5eeewhich then returns Error Code 10061: Connection refused.

This is occuring all the different computers that I have access, which includes different networks, firewall (non-firewall), and browsers and operating systems.

Maybe I should ditch Yahoo and just use Google Mail…

    Anyone have any ideas?

A ssl no socket error means the email server is either not working correctly or they changed the server address, so either your email provider needs to fix it or you need to use the correct server name/ip address and connection settings.
